During this time of uncertainty, it’s important we continue to celebrate and thank the amazing frontline medical workers as well as the incredible teachers who are working hard to keep their students engaged.

We kicked off this month by honoring our heroic nurses during National Nurses Week with free gas. We stopped by local gas stations across SoCal and pumped free gas for the frontline healthcare workers as they drove to and from their shifts. One nurse exclaimed: “I can’t believe this is real. What an amazing act.” Another nurse also expressed her gratitude and said: “It’s really bothering me that I can’t hug you! I just love you guys so much and I really appreciate this!” We even delivered hundreds of Helpful Care Bags filled with toiletry kits, snacks, and a grocery gift card to local hospitals as a thank you treat for nurses to hopefully brighten their day.

We truly appreciate frontline healthcare workers for their bravery and determination to help and to further assist them, we donated 15,000 face shields to local hospitals. These face shields have been authorized for use during the COVID-19 pandemic and are US FDA approved for their safety. One hospital noted: “We’ve had to make a lot of changes to the hospital to care for the COVID patients. It’s really comforting to know that companies like Honda are also willing to make changes to their factories to help supply us with much needed personal protection equipment.”

The helpfulness didn’t stop there! During the month of May, we also thanked teachers as we celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week. Every year during Teacher Appreciation week, we honor deserving teachers for their work in and out of the classroom. Due to this year’s circumstances, we decided to recognize them in a new way. We took to video conference instead to honor two amazing teachers; 2nd grade teacher Aidan Bybee from Agua Dulce Charter School, and 3rd grade teacher Krista Ylauan from the Downey Unified School District. We surprised both teachers over a surprise video conference with books, gift cards, and learning materials to show them our appreciation and to help them continue to create an amazing learning environment for their students.

So what’s next? For Father’s Day, we will be popping up at local grocery stores in SoCal and handing out DIY “BBQ Kits” for dads.
