This year, we helped celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month by highlighting the importance of music, literature, and food in the Hispanic culture.
We started out the month-long celebration by asking our social followers for suggestions on where to send a mariachi to serenade their friends & family. We visited local high schools, offices, and special events, where we treated guests to mariachi performances. The celebrations were a hit, with one guest saying, “It’s just one big party out here!” The fun continued at a local high school, where we visited a special needs student with a love for mariachi music. After the performance, his mom told us, “I am not kidding when I say, he is going to be talking about this every day for the next year.”
Along with these special pop-up mariachi serenades, we also highlighted the importance of food in the Hispanic culture with something sweet – paletas! We surprised SoCal residents at various events with these traditional treats and shared a taste of the Hispanic culture. At the Fiestas Patrias in Pasadena, one delighted patron said, “Thanks so much for bringing flavor to the parade!”
We continued the festivities with a literature event. At a local school in Fontana, we donated books to the school’s library and gifted each child with their very own bookmark. One happy student shared with us, “I can’t wait to go home and show my mom my bookmark!”
To wrap up our month of celebrations, we stopped by Riverside Plaza and brought a free pop-up concert featuring artist Chuy Lizárraga. We brought carts filled with complimentary paletas, along with free pop sockets to help families enjoy the show. Grateful for the performance, one guest explained, “We just came for dinner and walked into a surprise! This is amazing.”
