This Valentine’s Day, we wanted to spread a little extra love across the Southland. We surprised deserving couples and seniors all week leading up to Valentine’s Day and treated them to honeymoon staycations, as well as Helpful Valentine’s Day care packages.

The festivities kicked off as we surprised Pacoima resident, Thomas, who wrote into us asking for help to celebrate his eighth wedding anniversary with his wife. Thomas, a former Army veteran medic lost his job in the pandemic and was forced to make ends meet while working Postmates and taking phlebotomy classes. Unable to celebrate their eighth wedding anniversary, we stepped in and surprised Thomas and his wife Erika at their apartment with flowers, custom V-day donuts, and a staycation in Las Vegas with an additional $1500 of spending cash. The couple was overjoyed with Thomas saying, “Thank you for helping me treat my wife to a weekend she truly deserves.” Erika was just as thrilled telling us, “I’m about to cry, this is going to be so special.”

Our next surprise recipients were the elderly residents of the Magnolia Senior Center in San Bernardino and the St. Joseph Center in Los Angeles. These seniors were gifted Helpful Valentine’s Care Packages complete with chocolate dipped heart cookies, red roses, face masks, and hand sanitizers. The surprise was extremely well-received by the seniors; “I didn’t think I had such a sweet valentine this year,” said one resident. “It’s been years since I got anything for Valentine’s Day” another resident of the Magnolia Senior Center shared.

The final surprise on Valentine’s Day were for newlyweds in need of some relaxing Honeymoon staycations. We popped up at the Cute Little Wedding Chapel in Long Beach and surprised five couples with Helpful Honeymoon Staycations as they tied the knot. One couple was thrilled with the surprise, saying “Is this actually real? I never expected to have the Honda people as my guests at my wedding.” Another pair of newlyweds were overjoyed that we were able to add to their special day: “I can’t believe this is actually happening. You guys just made our day! No! Our week. No! Our year.” We even brought a fun backdrop for photos and gave each couple a bouquet of congratulatory roses.

Valentine’s Day may have come to a close, but our surprises for this year are far from over. To request a Random Act of Helpfulness head to http://www.socalhondadealers.com/help-me-honda and follow us on Facebook, Twitter andInstagram.
