Happy Honda Days reached far beyond the commercials to the streets of Southern California this holiday season.

As many prepared for the holidays with their families, the SoCal Honda Dealers continued to keep the less fortunate in mind beyond their usual acts of Helpfulness. With Los Angeles’s homeless population taking a 15% increase in the last two years*, the Helpful Guys turned into blue elves to make the holidays a little more merry for those that need it most across the southland. Helpful stops, packed full of helpful goodies, included:

An annual homeless feeding at Union Station in Pasadena, where the Guys in Blue plated and distributed holiday meals of turkey, stuffing, and all the fixings, and supplied winter essential gift bags to homeless people. This extra step of helpfulness was appreciated by everyone:

“Each year, I look forward to turning over the kitchen to the friendly, focused and committed volunteers in the blue shirts with the SoCal Honda Dealers.” — Guy Conigliaro, Union Station Food Services

The Helpful Holidays continued at Covenant House in Hollywood, where the Guys in Blue hosted a holiday party for at-risk, homeless youth.  The night included warm meals and dessert, along with a DJ and photo booth. Both teens and staff were grateful to have a holiday celebration to lift spirits.

At Anaheim Independencia Family Resource Center, the SoCal Honda Dealers provided lunch and helpful gifts to families and elderly in need.  Santa even made a special visit to greet families; a welcome surprise for the children!

The Helpful blue elves then headed over to Ocean Park Community Center in Santa Monica, where over 200 homeless locals were served a warm holiday meal and provided with helpful winter essentials like socks, toiletries, and more.  A band kept spirits high with festive holiday music as everyone enjoyed their meals and helpful gifts.

Underprivileged children in San Bernardino received an early present as well ..Complimentary bicycles from the Guys in Blue! The Helpful Guys built and gifted over 30 bikes to children of Westside Kinship Program, a support program for children who are being raised by extended family members due to loss or separation from their parents. While Team Helpful was hard at work building bikes, the kids enjoyed a cookie decorating station, face painting,  balloons, and Officer Lopez of the San Bernadino CHP came by to provide helpful bike safety tips. Even the staff at Westside Kinship expressed gratitude over SoCal’s Honda’s generosity and kindness:

“The kindness and goodness of the Helpful Honda People really showed. They most definitely live up to their name.” — La Verne Williams, Westside Kinship Support Services

Free gas and toy donations were other ways that the SoCal Honda Dealers spread holiday cheer this season, New Year’s Eve included! The Guys in Blue rang in the New Year full of Helpful spirit, by handing out thousands of complimentary snuggies to keep Rose Parade campers warm.
